The Clean Cities Alternative Fuel Price Report is a newsletter designed to keep you up to date on the price of alternative fuels in the United States in relation to gasoline and diesel prices.


Quick Fuel Facts

The U.S. now pays more than $2 billion per week for imported crude oil and petroleum products (Energy Information Administration).

Transportation accounts for 65% of U.S. oil consumption (Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network).

For nearly half a century, transportation has accounted for about one-fourth of total U.S. energy use and two-thirds of total oil consumption (DOE Energy Information Administration).

Petroleum supplies about 97 percent of the energy used in transportation (DOE Energy Information Administration).

Vehicle emissions are the leading source of U.S. air pollution today (Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network).

Twenty-eight percent of Americans say they are very concerned about the air pollution in their community from transportation sources (Bureau of Transportation Statistics).

Transportation sector carbon dioxide emissions in 1999 were nearly 15 percent higher than 1990 (DOE Energy Information Administration).

By 2020, total energy demand for transportation is expected to be 38.5 quadrillion BTUs, compared with 26.4 quadrillion BTUs in 1999 (DOE Energy Information Administration).
